Who We Are
My name is Ian and I am the younger brother. After graduating with my Bachelors degree in Engineering in 2016, I married the love of my life and we now live in the eastern Midwest. I am currently juggling married life, a full time engineering job, and a naughty cat, while also pursuing an MBA at a local state school.
A total of $34,000 student debt greeted me 6 months after graduation, while my wife had school expenses of $37,000 for a combined student debt burden of $71,000. We have experienced everything from a single, underemployed income, to a dual income household and everything in-between all while making the conscious decision to pay off all of our school debt first. Please enjoy the blog as I share the experiences and sacrifices that have brought me this far, and will take my family into the future!
My name is Alex and I am the older brother. I graduated with a B.S. in Music/Marketing in 2007. I was fortunate enough to begin my career a year before the housing crisis recession hit and was able to keep my job throughout those 2 years. As a result, I am currently debt-free with a good chunk saved up in tax-advantaged retirement accounts.
I live and work in Silicon Valley and am well-acquainted with the macro-economic factors that can affect how people save and work. I know that even well-founded financial advice does not apply to every unique situation, and that the right decisions may be different for different people. Financial opportunity takes many forms, and financial literacy is more than knowing the math behind compound interest!
